Founder of Medical Marijuana Inc. Killed In Car Crash
Medical Marijuana Inc. founder Michael Llamas is dead and a woman is injured following a severe car crash involving a Lamborghini on Sunday morning, Nov. 5, in San Diego, California.
According to local media reports, Llamas, 33, was speeding at more than 100mph. He smashed into a palm tree early on Sunday before the vehicle burst into flames.
A local police officer happened to be in the area as the crash took place and quickly rushed to the scene, however, by the time he got there it was likely already too late.
A CBS affiliate reported that the woman inside Llamas' car was ejected and hospitalized.
Llamas is the founder of Medical Marijuana Inc., a firm that’s worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Llamas became a millionaire through medical marijuana.
“The company has learned that Michael Llamas died in a traffic accident over the weekend in San Diego. The company mourns the loss of one of its visionary founders. Mr. Llamas was an incredible philanthropist and changed countless lives throughout the world,” the company said in a statement.
He also served as CEO of the Poway company, which sells hemp products.
Reports say Llamas was found dead in the driver's seat.
A number of media outlets have confirmed his death, however, a medical examiner has yet to confirm the news.
10News reported that the condition of the female passenger injured in the crash is unknown.
