Mornings are a special time. They’re when you can still convince yourself you’re going to workout today and eat healthily. Mornings are the calm before anything (or anyone) comes along to stress you out, convince you to eat that slice of cake or entice you into abandoning that workout. We are all still full of enthusiasm and beans in morning. Enter: the wake and bake granola. Because, contrary to some outdated belief systems, you can be high and still be extremely healthy.

This recipe is for those who would rather wake and bake in edible form, instead of coughing up a lung in the morning. It is deliciously sweet and mad with all kinds of ingredients that are great for your body - one of which is canna-oil!

Why Should You Make Your Own Edibles?

wake and bake

The awesome thing about making your own edibles at home is that you know exactly what goes into them. There’s no doubt about it - sometimes it’s fun to drink a cannabis-infused soda from the dispensary or a canna-brownie. But if you’re a regular user of marijuana edibles, then doing that all the time can be a big no-no - you don’t want to end up at the pharmacy after being at the dispensary. There is an unnecessary amount of sugars in these products that are fun once in a while but can be bad for if consumed on a regular basis.

What’s more is it’s so easy to make your own cannabis edibles. You just have to make (or purchase) some canna-oil from the dispensary, and use it any way you like in cooking. You know exactly what the ingredients are - so you can be as health conscious as you wish. This recipe for weed granola is just one of the many very awesome ways that you can consume cannabis. And it’s especially awesome because it’s all about the wake and bake that we love.

Wake And Bake Granola

You’re going to need to stock up on some deliciously healthy food items before you get started. If you’re already a health freak, you probably have a lot of these ingredients lying around in your pantry.

2 ½ cups quick oats
½ cup slivered almonds
12 tablespoons cannabis oil
1 cup coconut flakes
2⁄3 cup chopped dates
2⁄3 cup raisins
1⁄3 cup chopped dried apricots
¼ cup brown sugar
2-4 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

Before baking, preheat oven to 350°.

Combine the oats, almonds, 4 tablespoons cannabis oil and cinnamon. Mix well and place on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until light golden brown.

In a large skillet, melt the remaining cannabis oil. Add the coconut, dates, raisins, and apricots, then sauté for 4-5 minutes.

Add the brown sugar, honey, and cinnamon. Cook an additional few minutes while stirring occasionally.

Toss the sautéed fruit with the oatmeal and return to the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 12-15 minutes, stirring a couple of times. Let cool.

Now your wake and bake granola is ready to eat. If you want to add some “naughtiness”, you can always throw a few chocolate chips on the top. You can add fruit, yogurt or extra honey to your granola if you want it to be a heavier breakfast, too.

That’s how easy it really is to be a healthy cannabis user. No guilty pleasures with this wake and bake!
