Couple Finds 65lbs of Marijuana in Their Amazon Order
Have you ever ordered something online only to find the company you ordered from sent you the wrong thing? Well, one Florida couple got more than they bargained for when they found 65lbs of marijuana in their Amazon order.
The couple (who wish to remain unidentified for safety reasons) was shopping for storage containers on Amazon after finding they needed to put some of their belongings into storage.
"We love Amazon and do a lot of shopping on Amazon," the woman said.
They decided on four 27-gallon storage containers and eagerly awaited their delivery.
The Package Arrives
However, when the containers arrived, something didn't seem quite right. When they opened their package, they were hit with the strong odor of marijuana. When they tried to lift the boxes, they seemed much heavier than you would expect empty boxes to be.
After sifting through several layers of packaging, they finally found the stash and immediately called Orlando police.
Afraid that someone would come for the pot, the couple left their home for days and slept elsewhere.
Amazon sent the couple a $150 gift card, telling them they were unable to do anything else for them at the time. The couple wants an explanation and apology for the incident which could have potentially put their home and lives in danger.
"There was no concern for a customer's safety," the woman said. "I mean this could have turned into a worst-case scenario."
Police have launched an investigation into the delivery and confiscated the marijuana found by the couple. It is not yet known how there came to be 65lbs of marijuana in their Amazon order. The container was shipped by UPS from a facility in Massachusets. In total, the delivery weighed over 93lbs.
